Configuring Outlook Express (Email Program) |

1. Click on Outlook Express.
|
|
|
|
2. When Outlook Express
opens: Click on Tools menu, select
Accounts, click on Mail
tab, click Add button, select Mail.
|
|
|
|
3. Enter Display
name (display name is displayed
in the from field when you
send a message)
|
|
|
|
4. Enter email
address (username@our-town.com)
|
|
|
|
5. My incoming
mail server is a POP3 server.
|
|
|
|
6. Incoming
mail server and Outgoing
mail server names are:
mail.our-town.com.
|
|
|
|
7. Account name:
your username. Password:
your password.
|
|
|
|
8. Do not
check: Log on using
Secure Password Authentication
|
|
|
|
9. Click Finish.
|
|
|
|
10. Highlight the
account you added. Click the
Properties button.
|
|
|
|
11. Under the
General tab, type your
email address in the Reply
address field, click Apply.
|
|
|
|
12. Click the
Connection tab. Check the
box, Always connect to
this account using:
|
|
|
|
13. Hit the
down arrow button and
select the Our Town
dial up connection,
click Apply
|
|
|
|
14. Click the
Advanced tab. Under Server
Timeouts set to Long
(5 minutes), click OK.
|
|
|
|
15. Click Close.
|
|
|
|
16. Click on
Tools menu, select Options.
|
|
|
|
17. General
tab, check the box:
When starting, go
directly to my 'Inbox'
folder, click Apply.
|
|
|
|
18. Click
the Connection tab.
Uncheck the box
(if checked), Hang up
after sending and
receiving.
|
|
|
|
19. Click the
Security tab. Uncheck
the box, Do not allow
attachments to be saved
or opened that could potentially
be a virus, if you want
to open attachments, click OK.
