Windows 2000 Internet Setup Instructions

Please note: These are minimum setup instructions and do not cover all possibilities with regard to optimizing your Internet connection or your Windows 2000 Operating System.  Our-Town Internet Service cannot guarantee your connection reliability.  We are able to provide only limited technical support via telephone if you have problems setting up your system.  Setup, configuration and optimization of your system in our offices are FREE for all new customers.  Re-installs or setups on additional computers are a minimum $30 charge.

Step 1: Configuring Network Protocols & Dial Up Connection
If your computer is on a network, please consult your network administrator before making changes to your network configurations.
 1.  Click on: Start. Settings. Control Panel. Network and Dial-up Connections.
 2.  Click on Make New Connection.
 3.  Click Next until Network Connection Type is present.
 4.  Click Dial-up to private network. Click next.
 5.  Make sure use dialing rules is not checked.
 6.  Type in 965-1367 for the phone number. Click next.
 7.  Click on For all users. Click next.
 8.  Type Our Town for the name of the connection. Click finish.
 9.  Close any open windows.
10.  Click on: Start. Settings. Control Panel. Network and Dial-up Connections.
11.  Right click on the Our Town Connection. Click Properties.
12.  Click on the Options tab. Under Dialing options the 1st, 2nd, and 4th boxes need        to be checked. The 3rd box needs to be unchecked. Under Redialing options        change Idle time before hanging up to NEVER and uncheck Redial if line is        dropped.
13.  Click on the Networking tab. Click the Settings button. Uncheck all 3 boxes. Click        OK
14.  Double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
15.  Click the circle next to Use the following DNS server addresses.
16.  Preferred DNS: and Alternate DNS:
17.  Click the Advanced button.
18.  Click the DNS tab. Check the bottom two boxes. In DNS suffix for this connection,        type: Click OK three times.
19.  Close any open windows.
