Windows XP Internet Setup Instructions
Please note: These are minimum setup
instructions and do not cover all possibilities
with regard to optimizing your Internet
connection or your Windows XP Operating
System. Our-Town Internet Service cannot
guarantee your connection reliability. We are
able to provide only limited technical support
via telephone if you have problems setting up
your system. Setup, configuration and
optimization of your system in our offices are
FREE for all new customers. Re-installs or
setups on additional computers are a minimum $30
charge.

Step 1: Configuring Network
Protocols & Dial-Up
Connections |
If your computer is on a
network, please consult your
network administrator before
making changes to your
network configurations. |

1. Click on Start, then
Control Panel. Click on
Network and Internet
Connections. |
|
|
|
2. Click Setup or Change
Your Internet Connection.
Click Add. |
|
|
|
3. Click on Dial-Up Using
a Modem and then Next. |
|
|
|
4. Click on Connect Using
My Phone Line, then Next. |
|
|
|
5. Enter 965-1367 for the
phone number and then click
Next. |
|
|
|
6. Enter Our-Town for the
name of the connection and
then click Finish. |
|
|
|
7. Click on Advanced on
the bottom right hand side. |
|
|
|
8. Click Disconnect When
Connection May No Longer Be
Needed and OK. |
|
|
|
|
9. Click on Properties. |
|
|
|
10. Under the Networking
tab, click Settings and
uncheck Enable Software
Compression and click OK. |
|
|
|
11. Click to highlight
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
then click Properties. |
|
|
|
12. Click Use the Following
DNS Server Addresses. |

|
|
13. Preferred DNS Server
Type: 206.64.104.1,
Alternate DNS Server Type:
206.64.104.2 |
|

14. Click Advanced, uncheck
Use IP Header Compression. |
|
|
|
15. Under the DNS tab, type
in for the DNS Suffix for
This Connection: our-town.com |
