Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council, Inc. (CTFAC) is a fine arts presenter organization. CTFAC contracts excellent artists from all disciplines to perform exceptional programs in various locations in the Cross Timbers Basin region.
A volunteer organization of approximately 200 members, CTFAC is governed by an elected board of 9 directors that meets monthly. One paid staff director manages CTFAC's growing business and financial affairs. CTFAC's office is open Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Through a partnership with the City of Stephenville, CTFAC receives in-kind services of utilities, office space and staff parking, as well as 1% hotel/motel tax income.
As a member of both the Texas Commission on the Arts, and the Americans for the Arts Agencies, CTFAC solicits public funding through grants from these organizations and hires artists endorsed by them. Since governmental art funding is shrinking, CTFAC is redirecting its funding focus to 70% area constituent support.
Private donations, membership dues and funds mentioned above allow CTFAC to bring 12-15 fine art events to the Cross Timbers Basin region each year which are either free or have very low ticket prices.
CTFAC traditionally sponsors Ft. Worth Symphony Orchestra concerts, children's theatre, public school Art-in-Education programs, an eight-county school fine art program and sixth grade field trips to metroplex museums. At an annual members' business meeting, names of candidates for new CTFAC directors are submitted for a general membership vote of approval. Each year in June, CTFAC holds its fiscal year-end members barbecue. Always held at an exceptional location, museum or historic place, this informal gathering offers delicious barbecue, excellent entertainment and an opportunity for CTFAC members and guests to celebrate the past year's successes.
